This 1931 Packard 833 Sedan was sold new by Earle C. Anthony Packard Co. in Los Angeles and has always been a west coast car. Rust-free throughout. It was fully restored to a very high level, which included body, paint, chrome, interior, engine and mechanicals. Over the past 14 years it has been shown and toured throughout the Pacific Northwest, always performing flawlessly. Approximately 10,000 miles since restoration, and ready for more.
Body is straight and clean. Beautiful black paint with a deep shine. Ivory pin striping. No chips or dents. Bright chrome with no damage or pitting.
Gray wool upholstery in excellent condition including two folding jump seats in the rear compartment. Beautiful headliner and carpeting.
Original 320 cubic inch straight 8 engine was expertly rebuilt by Jim Classen, a Packard specialist. Rebuilt 3-speed manual transmission. Geared around 4.69:1, this is comfortable for touring in the 55 mph range. 4-wheel mechanical brakes stop smooth and straight.
After acquiring this Packard in 2010, the current owner upgraded the entire car for modern touring, including:
• Rebuilt carburetor, fuel pump, generator, distributor and speedometer. Modern air filter added.
• Bijur lubrication system flushed with new emitters installed. Works properly.
• Auxiliary electric fuel pump with pressure regulator and gauge have been installed.
• Newer correct wide whitewall tires.
Car runs on the original 6 volt, positive ground system with new wiring harness. In addition, the following electrical upgrades were made:
• 6 volt LED headlights, tail lights and turn signals. BRIGHT light for safe driving, day or night.
• Master electrical system shut-off switch installed under dashboard.
• Electrical monitoring system with LED readout to monitor battery and system voltage.
• Modern turn signals added with indicators under dashboard.
• 6 volt + to 12 volt - power inverter under dashboard for powering modern cell phone, GPS or other accessories when on tour.
• Adjustable voltage regulator that can be controlled from the driver's seat to adjust charging and battery draw.
(All upgrades are reversible to stock if desired.)
A pleasure to drive. Lots of power, shifts smoothly and stop straight and quick. All service has been regularly performed including oil and filter changes and chassis lubrication.
