This 1929 Packard Eight Model 6-33 4-Passenger Victoria Coupe is one of two surviving examples, as documented by the national Packard Club (Packard Automobile Classics.)

It was sold new on October 13, 1928 by Earle C. Anthony Packard Co. in Oakland, California. As was the custom, although the car is considered to be a 1929 6th Series model (6-33), having been sold in 1928 it was (and is) titled as a "1928." 

Purchased by the original owner who lived in the central valley of California, this Packard remained with the same family from 1928 until 2014 (86 years!) 
It was then acquired by a collector in northwest Washington state who spent several years performing a comprehensive restoration for showing and driving.

The solid, rust-free body was stripped to bare metal and repainted with a basecoat/clearcoat finish in a "Tarocco Orange" and Black combination with yellow pinstriping, as shown in the original Packard advertisement for the car. (See first photo in the gallery, below.) It show beautifully today, as the photos confirm. The wood body framing was in excellent condition, testament to the dry California climate where it lived for 8 decades. The doors hang squarely with no sag and close securely.  All chrome was re-plated and trim polished. Running board rubber mats were replaced. Top insert was replaced and is water-tight.

The interior was reupholstered in tan wool broadcloth with correct stitching. The front passenger seat folds forward to allow access to the rear compartment which also contains a built-in storage compartment and hat box. All windows are excellent and roll up and down easily. The windshield tips out, along with the cowl vent for ventilation on warm days. The vacuum windshield wiper works well. The genuine walnut window moldings and dashboard are lovely. All gauges work with exception of the King-Seeley hydrostatic gas gauge. (Even the Waltham 8-day spring-wound clock keeps perfect time!) 

The 320 cubic inch, 90 horsepower Packard straight eight engine was fully rebuilt by noted Northwest Packard specialist, Ernie Crutcher. It starts easily, runs smoothly with excellent power and no issues. 3-speed non-synchro transmission shifts well. With a standard 4.69:1 rear differential, this Packard is comfortable on the road around 35-45 mph, as was typical of the era. 4-wheel mechanical brakes stop quick, smooth and straight.

When we recently acquired this Packard, we fitted it with new Firestone 6.50 x 20 wide whitewall tires which contrast well with the Tarocco Orange solid disc wheels. We also changed the headlghts and taillights to modern, bright LED bulbs. This car has dual C.M. Hall taillight, stop light and back-up light fixtures at the rear. Since in our possession we have driven it approximately 150 miles. It runs, drives and handles well.

Optioned with dual side mounted spare wheels with full metal covers, a folding trunk rack (along with the integral built-in trunk within the body), this is a stylish, sporty  and truly rare body style that draws attention wherever it goes. 

Recently, at the 2026 Classic Car Club of America "Grand Classic" showing during their annual meeting in Kirkland, Washington, this Packard was judged and received a score of 92.5 out of 100 points. It received a Primary Second Place Award in the 1925-1932 Classics class. 

This truly is a rare Packard that is ready to "Show or Go."
