CLICK ABOVE TO SEE ENGINE STARTING AND RUNNING. The Kaiser Dragon was a limited production automobile (just 1,244 made in 1953) by the Kaiser-Frazer company. Founded by Henry Kaiser and Joe Frazer just after WWII, most Kaisers and Frazers were economy cars built to fulfill the pent-up postwar demand for inexpensive transportation. The Dragon was presented as their top-of-the-line luxury model, built on the Kaiser Manhattan chassis. Designed by Howard "Dutch" Darrin, the Dragon features a wrap-around dashboard covered in "Bambu" vinyl (as is the top of the car) with vinyl upholstery in "dragon skin" finish. Truly unique. The Dragon is trimmed outside with 14 carat gold plated badging and hood ornament. Inside, every option offered by Kaiser in 1953 came as standard equipment on the Dragon, including dual-range GM Hydramatic automatic transmission, heater/defroster, clock and radio. Originally sold in Texas, followed by owners in New York and South Carolina, this Dragon has been in Oregon since 2017. Repainted in correct Kaiser "Copper Dust" (maroon metallic) color with a deep shine. Trim and plating polished. Interior is in exceptional original condition which helps confirm the 61,000 miles showing as being correct total mileage All gauges work and register accurately. All options work, including factory AM radio, heater and clock. All lights work. Rebuilt original 226 cubic inch "Supersonic" flathead 6 cylinder engine produces 118 HP. Starts easily, runs smoothly with excellent power. No smoke or issues. The GM Hydramatic automatic transmission shifts properly. Under current ownership the following items have been serviced or replaced: • Rebuilt brake system including new master cylinder. • Coker whitewall radial tires replaced 1,500 miles ago. • King pins and bushings replaced. Front end alignment. • Auxiliary electric fuel pump and battery shut-off switch added. • Power steering pump replaced. • Starter rebuilt. Please see photos, just taken for this listing, that show current exceptional condition. This is a wonderful automobile throughout that can be shown or driven anywhere. You will likely not see another one wherever you go.
