The 1957 Chevrolet is certainly one of the most iconic classic cars in history.
The "top-of-the-line" 1957 model was the Bel Air Convertible Coupe. With its jet-age design, gleaming paint and extravagant use of chrome, it made a statement wherever it went and in the process, became a legend.
This particular Bel Air is highly optioned with the 283 cubic inch, 245 horsepower Turbo Fire V8 engine, which is fed by two Carter 4-barrel carburetors (dual quads) hidden beneath the "batwing" air cleaner under the hood. It starts easily, runs smoothly with exceptional power and acceleration. Power is transferred to the rear end through a 3-speed manual transmission that shifts crisply. 4-wheel drum brakes stop smooth and straight. Wheels are wrapped with correct boas-ply whitewall tires topped by spinner hubcaps. The spare wheel and tire are carried in a continental kit at the rear, surrounded by a beautiful bumper, that adds to the statement this car makes both coming and going.
The show-quality restoration of this Bel Air is said to have totaled into the hundreds of thousands of dollars - and it shows.
The body is laser straight, finished in correct "Onyx Black" paint with a deep, mirror shine. The chrome and trim were all re-plated to show quality and present beautifully today. The interior was fully restored in correct Chevrolet red and silver upholstery. Simply spectacular. Black Haartz cloth power top raises and lowers at the touch of a button. Windows, surrounded by highly chromed frames, roll up and down easily. The dashboard is gorgeous, with a full compliment of working gauges, a working radio and heater/defroster. The undercarriage appears fresh and correctly finished. The trunk is also clean and correct.
This car was featured at the 2025 Forest Grove, Oregon Concours d'Elegance (one of the longest-running shows in the west), in their "Fabulous 'Fifties" class as a premier example of the era, and drew the attention of hundreds of attendees throughout the day.
