CLICK ABOVE FOR VIDEO TOUR. This 1964 Corvair Monza Spyder has been collector-owned for 40+ years, most recently since 2003 in Portland, Oregon. Current mileage showing of 61,667 believed to be correct from new. Approximately 1,000 miles now on fully rebuilt engine and drivetrain. The Monza Spyder was Corvair's top-of-the-line model with a turbocharged OHV horizontally-opposed, 164 cubic inch 6 cylinder air-cooled engine, developing 150 horsepower at 4200 rpm, mated to a 4-speed manual transmission with floor-mounted shifter. The power plant was neatly tucked into the rear compartment of the 108 inch wheelbase chassis, combined with the light overall weight of 2,470 pounds, making the Corvair Monza Spyder a wolf in sheep's clothing on the road. Maintained by a personal mechanic for the past 22 years and kept in a climate-controlled showroom when not being driven, the body of this car is excellent. Refinished in correct "Coppertone Metallic" color, the paint shows with a deep shine. Body is straight with excellent panel fit. Chrome and trim shine brightly. Inside, the original black vinyl upholstery shows like-new with excellent interior trim. All lights and gauges work, as do the factory AM radio and heater/defroster. Excellent newer carpet and original headliner. The up-front trunk is clean and shows well. Rear engine bay is clean and tidy. The engine starts easily, runs smoothly with excellent power and working turbocharger. Good seals. Easily keeps up with modern traffic. Newer Goodyear radial tires hold the road well. Steering is tight. Shifts crisply. Brakes stop smooth and straight. Undercarriage is clean and rust-free (as is the rest of the car.) Includes original owner's manual, spare tire bracket for mounting int he engine compartment, and chromed turbocharger shroud/cover (not shown.) Overall, this is an excellent example of a rare Corvair (just 6,480 were made in 1964.) Drive and show with confidence. WE HAPPILY SELL TO BUYERS WORLDWIDE AND CAN ASSIST WITH SHIPPING ANYWHERE.
